DOCTOR JUSTIN SAVED OUR LIFE!!! Our sweet baby had a severe posterior tongue tie and Dr Justin released it for us last week. We were really struggling with feeds and overall tension. We were warned sometimes it could take a week to see results but we were lucky ones who saw immediate results. Our baby is relaxed for the first time in his life!!! Our screaming for no reason has completely ended. Our family cannot believe it’s the same baby! I will sing his high praises to anyone who will listen. He takes the time to listen to and referred us to an amazing speech pathologist too. Just means the world to us! The stretches are tough but if you keep up with them, your hard work will pay off. The short crying they have after is worth the overall relaxation the rest of the day. He will thank us when he gets older for the hard work we are putting in now. And his overall improvement is just proof that it works! Thank you a million times over to the amazing staff, Dr Justin but also Vicky and Tnya and everyone at the front desk. 1000/10 stars, 5 is not enough!!!!!

FAQs

Do Frenectomies Hurt?

Because we use the LightScalpel laser to complete our frenectomies, the wound from this procedure closes almost immediately after it is completed. This means that your child should experience almost no discomfort. In fact, in most cases anesthetic may not even be necessary!

When Can I Start Nursing Again After My Baby’s Frenectomy?

You can begin nursing or feeding your baby immediately after their frenectomy procedure. In fact, it is highly recommended, as it enables your child to get more of the nutrients essential for healing.

While some parents notice their baby can latch immediately following treatment, be aware that some may take a bit longer. Either way, there’s no need to worry! Some children require additional time to get used to their new range of oral movement, but they should adjust relatively quickly.

How Long Do Frenectomies Take?

A laser frenectomy done with the LightScalpel laser only takes a few minutes to complete right here in our office.

If your child has both a lip and tongue tie or an especially thick frenulum, however, this procedure could take a little longer. Your dentist can give you a more accurate timeline at your child’s consultation.

Is My Child Old Enough to Get Tongue-Tie Treatment?

It’s natural for parents to be concerned about their child undergoing any kind of procedure at any age, but the great news is that laser frenectomies are extremely safe, pose virtually no risk to the patient, and can be done on children as young as just a few days old.

Because tongue and lip ties do not resolve on their own, there is usually no reason to delay treatment so your child can begin enjoying the benefits as soon as possible.
